Unipac Shipping and Continental Agency are fully licensed and bonded customs house brokers with national permits that allow us to clear customs at any port in the United States. All importers must post and maintain a Customs Bond if importing commercial goods valued at over $2,500 to serve as a financial guaranty to U.S. Customs that all duties, taxes and fees will be paid. Unipac Shipping and Continental Agency work with only top-rated underwriters to offer all different types of bonds, but the two most common bonds for our customers are:

CUSTOM BONDS INCLUDES

  • Single Entry Bond – covers a single transaction
  • Continuous Bond – covers all transactions for one year from date of issuance

DUTY DRAWBACK
U.S. Customs estimates that approximately $2.5 billion in Duty Drawback refunds go unclaimed every year.
Duty Drawback is the refund, reduction, or waiver, in whole or in part of customs duties assessed or collected upon importation of an article or materials which are subsequently exported or destroyed.

  • Does your company pay duty on imported goods?
  • Does your company export or destroy any imported goods?
  • Does your company export or destroy any rejected imported goods?
  • Does your company manufacture using imported components and exports the finished goods?
  • Does your company plan to export or destroy any imported goods in the future?

If you have answered “Yes” to more than one of the questions above, you may be eligible for a Duty Drawback and claim 99% of the duty paid on the imported goods.

Unipac Shipping and Continental Agency operate under a contingency fee structure where we only bill our customers after receipt of a successful Duty Drawback refund. We charge our customers a fixed percentage of the total Duty Drawback recovered as a fee for our services.

Optional Duty Drawback services include

  • Application for Waiver of Prior Notice of Intent to Export or Destroy
  • Application for Drawback One Time Waiver
  • Application for Drawback Accelerated Payment
  • Binding Ruling for Substitution Drawback
